Width: 105 cm

Trained at the Llotja de Barcelona with Fèlix Mestres, Josep Mongrell, and Ángel Ferrant, at the end of the Civil War he went into exile in France, where he lived until his death, first in Perpignan, then in Paris and Saint Tropez. From there, he gained wide international recognition.
A painter, engraver, and sculptor, he was associated with the so-called School of Paris, along with Pablo Picasso, Juan Gris, Joan Miró, and Antonio Saura. Although his work was initially more graphic and also scenographic, from the early 1950s he devoted himself to painting. He moved through intimate realism, expressionism, and symbolism, eventually moving toward informalism and experimental abstraction.
